Latest Release of Datalliance Enhances Inventory Management Capabilities

  • Enhancements are Result of Cooperative Ongoing Enhancement Process Between Datalliance Customers and the EDM Customer Care Department

Cincinnati, Ohio, January 15, 2004 - Enterprise Data Management (EDM) today announced the immediate availability of the latest release of Datalliance®, a comprehensive internet-based VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) e-commerce service. The inventory management, reporting, documentation, ease-of-use, and technical enhancements in this release are a direct result of the ongoing communication and system enhancement process between Datalliance customers and the EDM Customer Care Department. The inventory management enhancements help to further streamline the overall VMI process and allow both distributors and suppliers to be more efficient.

Inventory Management Enhancements

This release includes several enhancements that allow distributors to better manage their inventory. Included in these enhancements is a new report that suggests current non-stock items that could benefit from being stocked nationally. The report is available at the distributor level and allows the distributor and supplier to review slow moving items that are currently not justified for stocking at any one distributor location, but given total distributor demand, might benefit from being stocked somewhere in the distributor's national network.

The "Excess Available" item alert has also been refined to be less restrictive and allow for configuration parameters. The alert is triggered when a slow moving item on an order can be replenished using excess inventory from another location within the distributor's network rather than from the supplier.

To enhance the distributor's view of how locations are being replenished and how items are evaluated for return to the supplier, two new configuration related distributor report menu entries have been included with this release. At the distributor level, basic distributor information and suggested return configuration parameters are displayed. At the location level, inventory replenishment related configuration parameters are displayed.
