Latest Release of Datalliance Continues Focus on Improving Inventory Management Processes

  • Enhancements Streamline Inventory Management Processes and Minimize Transactions Costs

Cincinnati, Ohio, May 21, 2004 - Enterprise Data Management (EDM) today announced the immediate availability of the latest release of Datalliance®, a comprehensive internet-based VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) e-commerce service. The primary focus of this release is multiple enhancements related to improving inventory management processes.

Specific enhancements include:

  • More sophisticated management of the "Excess Available" functionality to suggest inventory transfers within distributor locations to utilize available and excess inventory prior to placing additional supplier orders
  • Revision to the calculation for fast-moving items to ensure that these items are replenished to the maximum inventory level to reduce transaction costs associated with frequent orders
  • New "alert" analyzing the recent order history of seasonal items, allowing the Planner to review for replenishment demand as the item approaches the end of its season
  • Revision to the Suggest National Stock report allowing suppliers the ability to configure the minimum frequency required for suggesting an item for "national stock."

Carl Hall, president EDM, states, "Our continued focus on improving overall VMI processes allows our customers to better balance inventory and customer service priorities, while at the same time minimizing their transaction costs. As we streamline these inventory management processes, we reduce the amount of time required by our users which improves their competitive position."
